Industrial Waste Screens

Screens are an important part of the initial waste treatment process by either removing fine impurities (for example, organic matter, earth, sand) from valuable materials or by sorting mixed waste streams into grain size classes for further and better refinement. The primary objective is to produce a concentrate of valuable materials, which can subsequently be reintroduced into the recycling process as high-quality raw materials.

Despite making significant advances towards a more sustainable future, valuable waste recovery can still pose a challenge. The principle is simple, but the key point of waste screens isn’t just the actual screening procedure but also screening quality, a high throughput, space requirements, uptime, costs , and reliability.

A few Screening Challenge Examples

Various input materials will have different effects on the screens used. Here are just a few examples to showcase the challenges one might face while screening different waste streams.

  • Material Variety and Screen Clogging

Wet, sticky, or irregularly shaped items can clog or bypass the screens, reducing efficiency and increasing downtime. Furthermore, long, flexible particles like wires, plastic films, or textiles can wrap around the screen components, leading to blockages on the screen, making it difficult for screens to sort efficiently.

  • Wear and Tear

Processing heavy, abrasive materials like C&D Waste or glass causes increased wear on screening surface, requiring frequent maintenance.

  • Dust Pollution

Screens often create airborne particles, especially when handling dry materials, requiring additional dust suppression systems.

  • Overloading Problem

Material overload or unexpected large objects can damage screens or reduce their efficiency.

While you can’t tackle every problem at once, it is key to select the screen to suit your specific needs. By eliminating unnecessary features and focusing on addressing the actual problems, you can effectively select your screen to better meet your needs.

Our Screening Solutions for Various Materials

SCREEN BASIC

Screen: Single-deck linear vibrating screen with four longitudinally tensioned screen linings.

Key Points:

  • SCREEN BASIC excels in precise screening of medium- to fine-grain dry, homogeneous bulk materials.
  • Four longitudinally tensioned screen linings enable a high throughput for such material streams.

Performance:

By using four longitudinally tensioned screen linings, the SCREEN BASIC offers a maximum screen area and enables efficient separation of the input material. This leads to high throughput, especially when processing dry material streams. The quick tensioning device allows the use of all common longitudinally tensioned screen linings, such as wire mesh screens or perforated sheets. Additionally, to combat screen clogging, SCREEN BASIC features an integrated cleaning function utilizing anti-clogging balls to maintain optimal performance.

SCREEN BASIC is also available as SCREEN BASIC+ , which features a segmented screening deck, dividing the deck into two distinct screening zones. This can produce three material fractions in a single processing step.

SCREEN DOUBLE

Screen: Two-deck linear vibrating screen with 3D screen linings in the top deck and resonance-excited PU screening mats on the bottom deck (3D screen decks and flip-flop screens).

Key Points:

  • Especially well suited for a wide range of material streams.
  • Perfect for difficult to screen materials: even for moist or heavily abrasive materials - this screen enables almost perfect technical screening.
  • A durable All-rounder.

Performance:

SCREEN DOUBLE has low-wear, easily replaceable screen linings on the upper deck and high-quality PU screen mats in the lower deck. Accelerations of up to 50G ensure almost clog-free screening in the lower deck. When developing the SCREEN DOUBLE module, great importance was attached to high flexibility - this means that the feed material is efficiently separated into 3 different fractions to provide you with optimal support in your recycling process.

SCREEN HEAVY

Screen: Finger Screen Deck or 3D Screen Linings for rough pre-screening

Key Points:

  • Well suited for large, bulky and heavy parts.
  • Wear and tear resistant with high throughput.
  • Low Maintenance.

Performance:

By combining a vibrating feeder with a subsequent screening stage, fine particles are efficiently separated for optimal results. A variety of screening options, including 3D or finger screens, is available for effectively handling oversized materials. With high throughput rates and exceptional end-product purity, this machine provides an ideal solution for heavy screening tasks.
